How to apply Grainstore pH5
through your crimper |
The simplest way of achieving a thorough dosing of Grainstore pH5 is to apply at the same time as the grain is processed through your Korte or Murska crimper.
Make sure to:
- Check the moisture content of the grain at regular intervals using a reliable moisture meter.
- Find the crimper output by holding an open sack beneath the elevator and weigh 10 seconds’ grain discharge (in kilograms). Multiply this by 360 to arrive at an hour’s output and divide by 1000 to obtain the tonnage per hour.
How to apply to whole,
unprocessed grain
|
To avoid “hot spots” it is essential that all whole grain is treated. The best way of achieving this is to:
- Discharge the grain into a hopper and auger into your storage heap or bin, whilst applying Grainstore pH5 at the bottom flight of the auger. The auger should be at least two metres long.
- Use the special spray applicator – available from us – that sprays the preservative via two nozzles onto the grain before it enters the auger.
- Check the moisture content of the grain at regular intervals using a reliable moisture meter.
- To check the auger output weigh 10 seconds’ grain discharge (in kilograms). Multiply this by 360 to arrive at an hour’s output and divide by 1000 to obtain the tonnage per hour.
- Using the flowmeter adjust the applicator rate to match the auger output and the preservation period required (see table below). A ready reckoner is enclosed with the applicator.
