What contractors say...

"One of our beef men was paying £4-5000 a
month for feed - he hasn't got that anymore."

Bedale contractors Dennis and Simon Percival have been offering a crimping service for three years.
One beef farmer is using a ration made from 100t of crimped wheat with 100t of barley that Dennis has dry rolled adding maize gluten and says "His cattle have never weighed or done like it in their lives. He's very pleased. He's got some lambs inside and he just gives them the same ration. He bumps them straight onto it ad lib and never had any problems."
The savings are also significant. "This beef man was paying £4-5000 a month for bought in feed last year: well he hasn't got that anymore."

Crimpstore does hold after opening the clamp

The only problem Dennis has had is convincing farmers that Crimpstore really does hold the crimp after opening the clamp. "Another product has been used around here in the past and it got crimping a bad name. They hadn't got the right additive and it didn't keep. This is what we're fighting against. We're having to prove that it will keep. We had a meeting with farmers that had crimped and those that were interested and there was a very good response again. We're going to be a lot busier this year."
Dennis also believes that crimping will attract the organic farmer. "We've got a few crimping already. I think it will prove better for them men than anyone else."
