Whether you’re a farmer or contractor, and whatever your projected throughput, there is a machine to suit your requirements. To achieve the full potential of the significant economic advantages of home-grown feed preservation and processing, it is vital to choose machinery that is easy to use, simple to maintain and has been proven worldwide under all kinds of conditions.

Designed and manufactured in Finland, the home of grain crimping, and available in the UK only through Kelvin Cave, Murska / Korte machines are widely acknowledged as global market leaders. They set the benchmark within the farming industry and meet our own exacting standards for engineering excellence.

Crimping & dry-rolling machinery

Crimping & dry-rolling machinery | Harvesting, Home grown feed preservation, Ensiling | Kelvin Cave LtdThe Korte range includes a machine to suit every feed processing situation, from the entry level Murska 350S2 with a crimping output of around 5 tonnes/hour, to the mighty Korte 2000S 2x2 with a typical crimping output in excess of 40 tonnes/hour. Whether in outright ownership, shared ownership between farms or as a contracting machine, the return on investment from one of the Korte range can exceed that of many other machines used on a farm thanks to increasing demand for crimped feeds and the significant cost savings that are the result of feeding them.

Delivery & Service

Kelvin Cave offer a full UK-based workshop support facility and an overnight delivery service for most of the common spares items. The company also offer a reconditioning service and reconditioned, pre-owned machines are sometimes available. Part exchange is possible for farmers and contractors who wish to upgrade from their existing machines.

On-board Weighing System for crimpers & dry rollersTake the guesswork out of crimping & dry rolling cereals

The innovative on-board weighing system for our crimping and dry rolling machinery range takes the guesswork out of the tonnage being processed
or the crop yield.

Now farmers and contractors can have access to precise information on every batch of grain processed.

The system comprises three integrated load cells; one each in a pair of independently levelling hydraulic rear jack legs and one on the drawbar. These are linked to a computer unit that can be located in the tractor cab and interfaced by a series of push buttons and an LCD screen. Set-up and operation is both quick and simple:

  1. Machine is hydraulically jacked and levelled.
  2. Tare weight of the unladen machine is recorded and the system zeroed.
  3. The hopper is filled and a micro-switch on the grain door triggers the computer as the first of the grain is delivered to the rollers. Loss in weight from the hopper is detected by the load cells and output from the elevator calculated in kilos per second.

The key strength of the system lies in the fact that it is not necessary to suspend operation while the hopper is replenished. As soon as any gain in weight as grain is tipped into the hopper is detected, the computer suspends real-time output monitoring and calculates the average output over the previous corresponding period. Once it detects that no further weight is being added to the hopper it adds the weight to the last recorded figure and the system reverts to real-time calculations once again.

This means an entire batch of grain can be processed without interruption.

Exhaustive trialling across a range of cereals has shown consistent accuracy to within ±1% of actual weighbridge checks.

Batch data can be stored in the computer and recalled at any time or downloaded for permanent logging.

The weighing system has been developed jointly between Kelvin Cave Limited and weighing equipment specialist Griffiths Elder and employs proven technology throughout.

It is available for retrofit on certain machines and as an affordable option on all new models.
