To turn your crimping bagger into a bulk feed bagger just replace the crimper with this hopper. You can now ensile almost any feed straight into an Ag-Bag. Feeds include:
- crimped grain
- wholecrop silage
- maize grain and silage
- brewer’s grains
- sugar beet pulp
- and numerous by-products
All you need is a flat surface up to 60m long and the bagger, powered by a tractor, will lay a 100t sausage very smoothly. The bagger will fill at up to 40t an hour – depending on the material being processed. Compaction is controlled by adjusting a hydraulic brake on the bagging chassis, leaving the tractor in neutral. The auger will fill the bag and inch the tractor forward against the resistance of the filling bag. All you need to do is keep an eye on the expansion of the bag to make sure that you’re not pumping too much in, but that’s a simple process.
Ag-Bags come in several sizes; the standard one is 1.5m wide by 60m long and holds up to 100 tonnes. Bigger bags are available.
This system will appeal to any farmer who:
- has run out of clamp space
- does not have room for a permanent clamp
- likes the cleanliness and simplicty of the operation
We also believe that there are less risks from vermin and far less risk of aerobic spoilation. Rolling and sheeting down is also eliminated. Labour costs are also reduced as ensiling now becomes a one man operation. As the feed is augured directly into the bag, there is no waste whatsoever, and the feed will not be seen till the bag is opened.
What farmers say
One recent buyer is Derwyn Pierce from Tiverton. He says they had a primitive bagger thirty years ago for grass silage but “it wouldn’t cope with grain. We had to mix it up so it would pull through. We always said if we ever found a better bagging machine we’d buy it, and we have. It does exactly what they claim, it works very well. We’ve been crimping now for many years and many of our customers are short of storage space so the crimper/bagger with the bulk hopper option is the perfect solution.”
